Every figure on this page is computed from the inputs entered, by the method stated below it. Pickpathly publishes no industry benchmark, no vendor price beyond the ones it cites and no rule: the standard, the utilisation and the fees are yours, and the defaults are a worked example to replace with your own figures.

This is a warehouse labor management system worksheet that works the arithmetic a labour management system runs on. Lines a day over the standard (lines a picker picks in an hour in your building) is the pick hours the day needs; pick hours over the productive hours in a shift is the pickers it takes, rounded up; pickers times shift hours times days times a loaded rate is the week's labour cost; over the week's lines it is the cost per line; and pickers times productive hours times the standard is the lines a day the roster can carry. Every figure is yours, the standard most of all; the worksheet publishes no benchmark. Free, on the page, no account; the paid plan keeps the standard per process and each week's actual against it.

Pick hours from lines and the standard

1,200 lines a day at a standard of 60 lines a picker hour is 20 pick hours. The standard is the whole worksheet: measured in your building over a representative order profile, it is the one figure a labour management system exists to hold and defend, and the worksheet takes yours as an input rather than publishing one.

Pickers, rounded up, at your utilisation

An eight-hour shift at 85% utilisation is 6.8 productive hours, and 20 pick hours over 6.8 is 2.94 pickers, which is three people because the roster is made of whole ones. The worksheet also shows the lines a day three pickers can carry at that standard, 1,224, so the headroom is a number.

The week's cost and the cost per line

Three pickers times eight hours times five days at a loaded $22 an hour is $2,640 a week, and over 6,000 lines it is 44 cents a line, the figure to set beside what the client pays a line. The paid plan keeps the standard, the roster and the week's actual against the process so drift is seen the week it starts.

Warehouse labor management system: common questions

Is this a free warehouse labor management system?

It is a free worksheet that works the system's arithmetic, not the system: enter lines a day, your standard, shift hours, utilisation, days and a loaded rate, and it works pick hours, pickers, the week's cost, the cost per line and the roster's capacity on the page with no account and no card. Pickpathly Pro keeps the standard per process and each week's actual against it.

What is an engineered labour standard in a warehouse?

A measured rate for a process in a specific building, order profile and layout: lines a picker hour, cases a receiver hour, orders a packer hour. It is set by timing the work and reviewed when the layout or the profile changes. The worksheet takes your standard as an input and publishes none of its own.

Should the standard include breaks and replenishment?

No: the standard is the productive rate, and breaks, meetings, replenishment and waiting on the dock come out through the utilisation figure instead, which the worked example sets at 85% to show the arithmetic and nothing more. Measure both in your building and enter your own.
